Exporting your place

Roblox does not offer an API that returns a place’s scripts, so audits run on an export you choose to share.

From Roblox Studio

  1. Open the place in Studio.
  2. Choose File → Save to File As…
  3. In the file type list choose the XML place format, .rbxlx.
  4. Upload the saved file to your experience in shipLua.

To audit part of a place, select the instances in the Explorer, right-click and choose Save to File…, then pick the XML model format, .rbxmx.

From a Rojo project

Choose Upload folder and select the project root. shipLua reads default.project.json to map folders to services, and reads files ending in .lua or .luau. The usual suffixes set the script type: .server.luau is a Script, .client.luau a LocalScript, and anything else a ModuleScript. Only source files are sent; other files in the folder stay on your computer.

Limits

  • 50 MB per upload.
  • Up to 250,000 instances and 25,000 scripts per place; up to 5,000 files per folder upload.
  • Individual scripts larger than 2 MB are listed but not analyzed, and the report says so.
